Four housemates were left disappointed when they realised they were unable to get a dog, so they wrote a letter to their neighbours
Four housemates were left disappointed after being told by their landlord that they were unable to get a dog. However after coming up with the ingenious, and undeniably adorable, idea to offer to walk their neighbour’s dog, the four lads found themselves with a new puppy pal.
The group of dog-loving engineers, from Bristol, moved into a rented house together some years ago, but were left downhearted when they later realised they had unknowingly signed a strict “no pets” clause in their contract. However, the friends did not give up on their hopes of incorporating some puppy love into their lives.
One of the lads noticed their neighbour’s Sheprador from across the road had been staring into their house, giving the friends an idea of how they could still incorporate some doggy joy into their lives. The boys decided to write a letter to their neighbour asking if they would ever need someone to walk their dog, the Mirror reports.
Addressing a letter to their neighbours, the lads wrote: “We are four engineers that have recently moved into the area… The other day we noticed a four-legged friend looking at us out the window.
“He or she looked like the good-est boy/girl there is. They wrote: “If you ever need someone to walk him/her, we will gladly do so. If you ever get bored (we know you never will, but we can dream) we are more than happy to look after him/her.
“The adult life is a struggle without one. Yours sincerely, The boys from number 23.”
The next day the housemates received a response which was absolute gold. A reply, written on behalf of their pup admirer, landed through their letter box.
The letter read: “Dearest Boys, what a treat it was to receive your letter! I am two years and four months old… I come from Cyprus originally but Chris and Sarah rescued me from a cage in the ‘doggy hotel’!
“You’re right that I am the bestest-girl – how did you know?? I am very friendly and full of beans. I love meeting new people and it would be great if we could be friends. I’d love to hang out whenever you fancy.
“Give my servant Chris a WhatsApp and we can arrange a meet up. Lots of love (and licks), Stevie Ticks.”
If the contents of the letter were not adorable enough, the reply had also been published with an actual paw print.
Jack McCrossan, one of the flatmates, posted the exchange online, captioning it: “The response was better than we could have ever hoped for.”
Within hours the internet was obsessed with the story as one fan of the tale wrote: “This is the most wholesome thing I’ve seen all year. I need to move to this street immediately.” Another then added: “The fact she calls her owner ‘my servant Chris’ has finished me off.”
Jack later posted an image of the four friends on Christmas morning with their new tail-wagging mate, with the caption: “Looks like the start of a beautiful friendship.”
The letter exchange happened a few years ago and the boys have since moved out of the area, but their four-legged friend is still enjoying life in Bristol. The pampered pooch has more than 86,000 followers on Instagram and is often pictured being thoroughly spoilt by her owners.
