Robert Hardman, a Daily Mail columnist who has written a selection of royal biographies including Charles III: The Inside Story and Queen: The Life of Elizabeth II, has spoken exclusively to the Palace Confidential newsletter.
‘Queen Elizabeth II met more US presidents than anybody ever,’ Robert said. ‘She met 14. The first she met as a princess was Harry Truman in 1951 on her trip to the USA.
‘Subsequently, she went on to meet every US president thereafter, with the exception of President Lyndon Johnson. She met every president right up to Donald Trump in his first presidency and then Joe Biden.’
The House of Windsor’s long history with the White House leaves a lot of room for embarrassing, memorable and outright hilarious moments.
From the moment a certain American president managed to kiss a member of the Royal Family on the lips to the first time a monarch chowed down on a hot dog.
