FTSE 250 regains pandemic losses | Business

Britain’s mid-cap stocks have recovered all of their pandemic losses after a jump in the index after the Easter break.

The FTSE 250, which is made up of UK-biased companies such as Royal Mail and Frasers Group, owner of Sports Direct, gained 254.84 points, or 1.2 per cent, to 21,987.51 this morning. In the days leading up to the stock market crash in February last year, the index peaked at just shy of 21,900.

A tier above, the FTSE 100 index also made a fast start to the shortened week as it rose by 75.84 points, or 1.1 per cent, to 6,813.14 — its best for nearly three months.
