FTSE on the rise with Royal Mail and ITV leading the way while Easyjet apologies over cancelations

FTSE 100 opened higher, gaining 29 points to 7,045. Strangely, Royal Mail and ITV led the way as the biggest risers as both are soon set to be booted off London’s blue-chip index.

EasyJet apologised to customers after a host of flights have been cancelled over the last few weeks due to staff shortages. The budget airline warned of more cancellations as it cuts thousands of summer flights. 

Pfizer has agreed to invest US$95mln to buy just over an 8% stake in French vaccines company Valneva. Valneva will use the proceeds from Pfizer’s investment to support its Phase 3 development contribution to the Lyme disease program.
