Fast delivery company Getir has announced a deal with UK grocery and convenience chain Co-op to deliver its goods.
Initially the two firms are to pilot deliveries across London at stores including Battersea, Earls Court, Seven Sisters, Balham, Tottenham and Bethnal Green.
At the same time, Nisa Retail, Co-op’s wholesale division is to work with Getir to supply the 300 products on offer in the pilot.
The news comes after a slump in the UK fast delivery market after the pandemic forced the Istanbul based delivery company to radically cut staff numbers this year.
The deal would help to “meet the needs of our growing community,” Getir’s UK general manager, Kristof Van Beveren, said.
“Getir is committed not only to speed and convenience but to exploring new and innovative ways to serve customers looking for a broad selection of products and everyday groceries,” he said.
Other fast delivery companies have entered into similar partnerships including Gorillas, which is working out of Tesco stores around the UK. This is a trend in the fast-delivery market as the companies, few which have turned a profit to date, seek new avenues toward profitability.
