Gogglebox fans complained the show had ‘ruined’ one of the most anticipated returning series of the year.
The latest instalment of Gogglebox featured our beloved families watching programmes including Strictly Come Dancing, Malice and various others.
Yet, certain Channel 4 viewers expressed dissatisfaction with this week’s programme choices, with one describing it as “ridiculous” for the show to feature spoilers for “the most anticipated series of the year”.
The social media criticism was prompted by the inclusion of Stranger Things Season 5: Part 1, which became available on Netflix yesterday.
Enthusiasts of Stranger Things have waited three years for the fifth and concluding season of the beloved sci-fi programme to arrive, and numerous fans haven’t yet managed to view the initial four episodes.

The first episode became available on November 27, whilst the subsequent episodes are scheduled to arrive in the UK on Boxing Day and New Year’s Day, reports the Mirror.
Writing on X, the social media platform previously called Twitter, fans voiced their annoyance at being forced to change channels to prevent spoilers on Gogglebox.
One questioned: “Did Gogglebox really need to ruin Stranger Things by putting it on 2 days after it’s aired…?”
Another complained: “I know it does spoilers but showing stranger things one of the most anticipated series of the year the day after it’s come out is ridiculous!
“I can’t be the only one that’s had to turn over. #Gogglebox.”
A further viewer confessed they would be avoiding that portion altogether, posting: “Gogglebox is always spoiler-heavy, so I’ll avoid the Stranger Things section.”
Meanwhile, the Gogglebox families were left on tenterhooks and even shrieking as they watched the unfolding events of Stranger Things season 5.
Without revealing any spoilers, the snippets included a nail-biting chase scene that delivered a significant emotional blow, leaving fans of the show breathless.
After viewing the episode, Jenny commented that it was “no wonder the kids can’t get to sleep”, while Pete jested: “I just like how realistic it all is.”
Stranger Things first hit our screens back in 2016, with a synopsis from IMDb stating: “In 1980s Indiana, a group of young friends witness supernatural forces and secret government exploits.
“As they search for answers, the children unravel a series of extraordinary mysteries.”
Gogglebox airs Fridays at 9pm on Channel 4.
