Kerri said: “The Dance World Cup is the largest all genre competition in the world, dancers from over 60 countries take part.

“Only four dancers from every age group and style of dance from the whole of Scotland get through.”

Kerri was quick to praise the hard work of the girls and their dedication to do well.

She said: “They’ve been working so hard for this, for auditions they were in the studio six days a week. They really deserve this.”

The group will be taking part in the first week of the fortnight-long competition and will perform in the lyrical, jazz, acro, show dance and contemporary categories.

Kerri said: “It’s a great opportunity and the girls are really excited.”

Cora Deegan, 13, from Port Glasgow, who is one of the team, said: “I’m really excited. It’s the first time I’ve been to the Dance World Cup. It will be a lot of fun going away with all the girls.”

Sara Casement, 12, from Greenock, added: “I’m really looking forward to dancing on the big stage.”

Asked if she was going to win, she quipped: “I’m going to give it my best shot.”
