Harry and Meghan’s split with William and Kate began after Duke of Sussex ‘read them the riot act’

Fab Four’s secret showdown: Harry and Meghan’s split with William and Kate began after the Duke of Sussex ‘read them the riot act’ for not supporting his wife before their wedding (and Wimbledon trip was an attempt to smooth things over)

  • Harry and Meghan split from William and Kate in days following Royal Wedding
  • Sources say the Duke of Sussex ‘read them the riot act’, taking them by surprise
  • The rift is said to have ended in the splitting of the royal households and charity

The breakup of the ‘Fab Four’ began when the Duke of Sussex accused his brother and sister-in-law of not supporting his bride enough, it has been revealed.

Harry and Meghan’s split from William and Kate started after a ‘showdown’ saw Harry ‘read them the riot act’ after their children had gone to bed.

The royal couple were taken completely by surprise and Meghan is thought to have maintained a ‘stony’ silence throughout the speech, trusted sources claimed.

But the Cambridge’s assured Harry they were happy to offer his wife more support, with Kate even bringing a bunch of flowers to their home the next day.

Following the talk Kate also offered to accompany her new sister-in-law to Wimbledon.

Apparently a few of Meghan’s friends were quick to note a trip to Wimbledon could already be easily attained through her friendship with Serena Williams.

But the two women did attend the tournament together – even as some commentators noted a frostiness between them.

This year, after attending Wimbledon as a twosome for a second year in a row, they appeared to get on better as they were photographed laughing together.

And the two mothers are thought to be exchanging friendly texts discussing their experiences of bringing up their children.

Despite this some sources claim the two families are still drifting apart and the result has been a complete division in their respective households.

Harry and Meghan split from the Cambridges’ Kensington Palace household, setting up their own at Buckingham Palace in the spring, with a separate head of communications and SussexRoyal Instagram account.

The SussexRoyal Instagram account has 8.7million followers – just behind the KensingtonRoyal account for William and Kate which has 9.3million followers.

And just 15 months after Harry and Meghan made their first appearance to promote the Royal Foundation charity with the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge they decided to break away.

William and Harry founded the Royal foundation 10 years ago to run their charitable ventures together. Kate joined in 2011 and Meghan came on board last year.

Last night sources close to the royals were keen to deny any knowledge of any rift at all.
