A ‘rare’ 50p coin that depicts a much-loved fictional bear is being sold on eBay for over £8000.
The Royal Mint released coins depicting Paddington Bear standing outside St Paul’s Cathedral in London in 2019, marking the 60th anniversary since the bear’s creation in 1958 by Michael Bond.
The set of coins depicted Paddington visiting other London landmarks, his namesake train station and the guards outside Buckingham Palace.

Prices at the time included £10 for a “mint condition” brilliant uncirculated finish coin and £850 for a gold coin.
Now, a seller based in Hereford has listed the silver coin on eBay, with a price tag of £8,086.72, or the best offer.
The listed coin does not include the bear in colour, unlike the advertised Royal Mint collection.
Interested parties can either collect the coin from an address in Hereford or pay an extra £8.35 for Royal Mail postage.
