Hermes UK opens new peak season hub

Hermes UK has opened a new distribution centre on the site of the former Royal Mail North West Distribution Centre in Warrington.

The new, 185,000 square foot warehouse will have 550 temporary staff on the site, that has been opened to add capacity to the delivery company’s infrastructure ahead of the coming peak season.

The Hermes UK site will have the capacity to handle more than 450,000 parcels a day and can work 24/7 as required. This is part of the company’s wider investment in its UK infrastructure thanks to the sudden strong growth in online shopping.

Sam Spring, depot manager at the new site, commented, “During a year where we have learned to take nothing for granted, it is fantastic to be opening a new hub for Hermes where business continues to grow, allowing us to provide much needed job opportunities during these uncertain times.

“The new team has worked extremely hard to get the site ready for what will be one of the busiest periods of the year and ensure that our customers continue to get a fantastic service.”
