Hillary Clinton posts gushing tribute to Meghan Markle on Instagram

Meghan Markle has earned a mark of approval from Hillary Clinton, who praised the Duchess of Sussex for being an inspiration to her and so many others.

Hillary, 71, took to Instagram on Friday to gush about Meghan’s work with Smart Works, U.K-based charity that provides clothes and coaching to unemployed women in need.

‘I’m so inspired by how Meghan Markle—aka one half of @sussexroyal—is representing the U.S. in the U.K. and on the world stage,’ the former presidential candidate wrote of the 38-year-old royal.

‘Meghan’s new project: Helping @SmartWorksCharity equip women who have been out of the workforce with the office essentials they need to feel confident in job interviews and beyond.’

Hillary, who is known for her love of power suits, added: ‘The ability to earn their own paycheck is a key part of women’s economic, social, and cultural equality, and it can all start with some smart suits.

The heartwarming image was shared on Meghan and Prince Harry’s official Instagram account in late July to celebrate the collection of workwear she is creating to benefit Smart Works.

Meghan announced the collaboration in an essay featured in her guest-edited September issue of British Vogue.

‘When you walk into a Smart Works space, you’re met with racks of clothing and an array of bags and shoes. Sometimes, however, it can be a potpourri of mismatched sizes and colors, not always the right stylistic choices or range of sizes,’ she wrote.

‘To help with this, I asked Marks & Spencer, John Lewis & Partners, Jigsaw and my friend, the designer Misha Nonoo, if they were willing to design a capsule collection of more classic options for a workwear wardrobe.’

The clothes are designed to equip Smart Works’ clients with the key essentials they need as they attend interviews and enter into the workplace — including shirts trousers, blazers, dresses, and bags

For every item purchased during the sale of the collection, which will last for at least two weeks, one will be donated to Smart Works, allowing customers to help empower other women and play a part in their success stories.

Smart Works, one of the royal’s first patronages, helps women, many of whom come from disadvantaged backgrounds, get interview-ready by providing them with a new outfit and coaching from a team of volunteer mentors.

Meghan will help launch the new line at an event on Thursday, September 12. It will mark her first official engagement since the birth of her son Archie Mountbatten-Windsor in May.

The Duchess of Sussex is preparing to return from maternity leave next week, Buckingham Palace has confirmed.
