Hitachi urges fleets to ‘be confident’ they can make the switch to EVs

Hitachi Capital Vehicle Solutions is urging fleets of all sizes to ‘be confident’ they can make the switch to electric vehicles (EVs).

To help fleets make the switch, key stakeholders in Optimise Prime including Hitachi, will be revealing the key findings of the world’s biggest electric vehicle (EV) trial one year on, at Virtual Fleet & Mobility Live, next week.

Jon Lawes, managing director at Hitachi Capital Vehicle Solutions, said: “We look forward to discussing the project learnings from Optimise Prime and the challenges and successes to date of the world’s biggest trial of commercial electric vehicles.

“There is no bigger barrier to electrification than infrastructure. Fleets of all sizes need to be confident they can make the switch and through Optimise Prime, we can address climate change by accelerating the transition to electric vehicles.”

The Optimise Prime project brings together leading power, technology, fleet and transport companies to test and implement the best approaches to the EV rollout for commercial operators.

On the second day of the virtual event (November 18), stakeholders in Optimise Prime; Hitachi, Royal Mail, Centrica and UK Power Networks, will be sharing the challenges and successes they’ve faced from the project and will be holding a 20-minute Q&A session, starting at 09:15AM.

Delegates can get their questions answered by the most influential and knowledgeable people in the industry at Virtual Fleet & Mobility Live.

Lawes said: “Together, as Optimise Prime partners we have created a collaborative eco-system which shares the data generated from testing charging solutions for 3,000 vehicles, identifying the impact of electrification on the UK energy network.

“If successful, Optimise Prime could save electricity customers £207m and reduce CO2 emissions by 7.2m tons by 2030.”

Virtual Fleet & Mobility takes places across November 17, 18 and 19.
