Horrifying moment postman kicks family dog while delivering parcel to young girl

Shocking footage has captured the moment a postman kicked a family dog as he delivered a parcel to a family in Greater Manchester.

The Royal Mail worker was delivering the parcel to the family’s home last month when the door was opened by a teenage girl.

In the video captured on Ring Doorbell, the postman is seen passing the parcel to the girl as the family dog runs towards them while barking.

As the dog runs toward him, the postman then kicks the dog, sending it a few metres down the driveway before it runs off into the garden.

The postman then walks off.

The girl’s mother said her daughter approached her in tears after the incident.

The mother explained the incident to The Manchester Evening News, and said she had made a formal complaint.

“My dog is terrified of going to the door and when the doorbell goes, he wets himself and is visibly shaking,” she said.

“My daughter answered the door for the delivery. I was outside hanging washing up, and she ran in and told me what had happened.

“My daughter was very upset. She was crying her eyes out, and she’s not an emotional kid.”

The Royal Mail has since apologised for the upset caused, however, added that on average 33 Royal Mail staff were attacked by dogs every week.

“We work closely with our health and safety team to ensure our staff are fully aware of the dangers of loose animals,” the statement seen by The Manchester Evening News read.

“We employ an absolute AVOID policy, whereby mail is returned to the office for a safe attempt delivery should any loose animals or pets be looking to what they see as defending their family, or space.”
