A thug who threatened to put his ex-partner in a coma was caught on the roof of her shed after being tracked on Find My iPhone.
Kim Forth, 39, sent a series of voice notes and messages to his ex-partner that include threats to smash her windows and torcher her. Newcastle Crown Court heard the pair unexpectedly ran into each other in a shop in January this year.
The court was told Forth smashed a can of pop, he then went on to make threats to the woman via Snapchat which were abusive and threatened to smash her windows and harm her. The court heard days later the woman met Forth, of Moorsley Road, Houghton, to pay some money and he was again abusive to her.
The defendant sent messages via Snapchat but the victim blocked him, but he then made further threats saying he would “stamp all over her” and put the woman in a coma, the court heard.
Police were called, the court heard, and while they were there the woman was tracking Forth on the Find My iPhone app and he was getting closer to her home address.
Recorder Ian Mullarkey said: “Police observed you climbing onto the shed which would lead into her rear bedroom. You were called to come down and you were arrested.
“You were taken to police custody and even then you were shouting out [the victim] ‘Would get a good hiding’ when you were released from custody.
“This was an appalling episode of threatening and abusive behaviour towards your former partner which caused her to be terrorised by what you might do to her and her immediate family. “
In a victim impact statement read out in court, the woman said she’d been left “scared” and “mentally unwell” by what had happened.
Recorder Mullarkey said Forth had shown a complete lack of empathy, no remorse and engaged in victim blaming during the course of the interview and minimised his behaviour.
In mitigation, the court was told the incident was “out of character” and a “significant departure from how he normally conducts himself”.
Forth pleaded guilty to sending communication threatening death or serious harm, threat to damage / destroy property, and harassment – put in fear of violence. He was jailed for 16 months and a five year restraining order was issued.
