With the holiday season in full swing, members of the royal family are beginning to show off their Christmas cards on social media. But how do you get lucky enough to receive one in your mailbox, addressed to you personally?
As it turns out, you don’t have to be Kate Middleton‘s close friend or even a public figure to join their mailing list this year. Getting a card from the royals is actually pretty easy, as long as you know how to reach out.
Writing to Kate and Prince William during the holiday season is key.
As Good Housekeeping reported, you can write to the royals anytime of year, if you’re hoping to receive a holiday card as a response, you’ll want to make sure that you write to them during the holiday season — the months of November and December should be safe. You can write whatever you want in your letter (though of course, it should be kind!) and include a return address, so that Kate’s office knows where to send your card.

Just know that it could take some time to hear back, since there’s no doubt that they receive a lot of mail on a daily basis.
You can also receive holiday cards from other royals.
Will and Kate aren’t the only royals you can write to. You can also send letters and receive standard responses in return from Sophie and Prince Edward, the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh (whose address is The Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh, Bagshot Park, Bagshot, Surrey GU19 5PL), Princess Anne (whose address is The Princess Royal, Buckingham Palace, London SW1A 1AA) and even King Charles and Queen Camilla (whose address is His Majesty The King, Buckingham Palace, London SW1A 1AA).
It’s important to note that you likely won’t get a personalized response to your letter back from the royal you wrote to, but it’s pretty cool to hear back at all.
There are a few guidelines for writing to King Charles, though.
As Good Housekeeping also pointed out, you’re not required to take a formal tone when writing to the king, but there are a few pieces of etiquette you should keep in mind while crafting your letter. He is not allowed to accept any gifts that may be sent to his office, and it’s considered inappropriate to write to him involving political matters or asking him to get involved in any problems you might be having.
While sending out your holiday cards this year, it can’t hurt to send a few to the royals, too. You never know — you could end up opening your mailbox in a few weeks to discover royal mail waiting for you!
