How to get a week off for King Charles’ Coronation by using minimal annual leave

The King’s coronation means an extra bank holiday is quickly approaching and there’s a way you can extend your time off – but you need to act fast.

The royal occasion will take place on Saturday, May 6 but the historical event is being marked as a three day affair, bringing the bank Holiday to the following Monday, May 8. If you want a longer stint of time off – you just need to fork up a few days of your annual leave allowance.

If you work Monday to Friday – combining the royal Bank Holiday with extra leave will make for a larger block of time off while missing the least amount of working days.

With May Day, the Monday of that week is also a day off, you could get over a week off by taking just four days holiday – from May 1 to 8, the Mirror reports.

If you’re too late to take advantage of May’s avalanche of national holidays, then go and grab your diary, as there are plenty of more to come this year. Planning carefully can help you in a big way – but you need to get your skates on.
