A Huddersfield postman was left with a grin on his face after a local care home showered him with gifts.
Kevin Scott, a local postman who has worked for Royal Mail for 17 years, received a mug, a postal worker keyring, a handmade poster and a card as well as his favourite wine from Lindley grange Bupa Care Home in Huddersfield. Kevin, who had been on his morning round in the area was surprised to find the entrance to the care home “adorned with postal-themed decorations”.
And he was “was thrilled by the surprise, and shared that it was made more special by the fact that the gifts were hand selected by the residents of the Bupa care home”. The residents of the care home said the gifts were meant to thank Kevin “for his tireless work over the course of the last two years.”

The mini-event was also “in honour of National Postal Workers Day” which was held earlier this month. Julie Parker, one of the residents, said: “Kevin always goes above and beyond to not only deliver the residents of Lindley Grange their letters and gifts, but also to make us all smile. He is a wonderful member of our community, and we are so grateful for the kindness he shows us all.”
Becky Crow, Activities Coordinator at Lindley Grange said: “Kevin always comes to Lindley Grange each morning with a smile on his face, and is always happy to chat to us all. Having heard about National Postal Workers Day, we wanted to treat him and show him how much we appreciate his hard work.”
But, it was also revealed that Kevin is not only a hardworking postman, but a kind hearted member of the community who is always giving. A spokesperson for Lindley Grange said: “Alongside his postal duties, Kevin carries out many acts of kindness for the Lindley Grange community.
“At Christmas, Kevin arrived with a kilo of chocolates to share with staff and residents and, more recently, he bought Natalie Sidlow, a Care Assistant, a personalised baby grow ahead of her maternity leave. Kevin is set to be invited to future events at Lindley Grange, including an upcoming summer fayre, giving the residents and staff another chance to thank him for all his hard work.
