Hundreds of crocheted poppies cover Bucks town railings in remembrance tribute

Hundreds of crocheted poppies have covered the fence and gates in a Bucks town and are set to be placed along a High Street in a remembrance tribute.

Poppies are coating the railings of Marlow’s All Saints Church and will be added to Higginson Park fences on Saturday, October 25, honouring local servicemen and servicewomen.

On Monday, October 27, over 300 poppies will start to be left on the High Street, to be found by members of the public, at least 30 a day, for ten days.

Marlow Poppies wrote: “Each will be dedicated to someone locally who died for our ‘Today’.

“If you find one, please untie it and wear it to honour them.”

The names of soldiers who gave their lives in World War One and World War Two have been handwritten onto notes set to be attached to the poppies.

The notes state: “If you have found this Poppy, please wear it with pride and if able to, make a donation.”

They say that donations for the Marlow British Legion Poppy Appeal can be made on Just Giving or in a collection box.
