Chris Waller has taken out his third Australian Oaks in four years with Hungry Heart proving too good for the opposition in the 2021 edition of the historic race.
Hungry Heart relished the step out to 2400m as she chalked up a second successive Group 1 victory in the 2021 $1m Australian Oaks at Randwick.
Given the gun run by Kerrin McEvoy, Hungry Heart settled in a the second half of the field in a slowly run race but McEvoy got moving coming to the turn and the daughter of Frankel was presented in the straight with plenty of room to work with and charged away to win easily.
Waller had previously won The Oaks with Verry Elleegant (2019) and Unforgotten (2018) but it was a defeat which also sticks with the champion trainer as the 2015 edition of the race was the last time Winx was beaten, going down to Gust Of Wind before winning 33-straight.
The Mark Newnham-trained Bargain finished second while Edward Cummings’ filly Duais was a brave third.
