Immigrant who never really left home

Do you know anyone in the above picture? Are you there yourself? Do you know the names of the youngsters whose first names are missing?

Al Carry (back, sixth from the left) departed from his native north Meath in the late 1950s to carve out a new life and career for himself in England.

It was in London he found a career in the Royal Mail. He also met his wife Lyn there and they settled down to a life together. They subsequently moved to Dorset.

However, no matter where he went Al regularly returned to his native north Meath to see his many relatives there. In a way he never really left home.

In this week’s Meath Chronicle Al relates his story outlining his ups and downs and his affection for a 50-year-old Morris Traveller he still drives around Weymouth.
