“In the coming days” | ExWHUEmployee | West Ham striker recruitment update

West Ham are in the process of stepping up our recruitment of a new striker this summer, it has been reported by ExWHUEmployee.

Yesterday our Hammers confirmed our 3rd signing of the transfer window under the new era of Julen Lopetegui, as Max Kilman completed his £40m move from Wolverhampton Wanderers.

It is now understood there will be now a shift of focus from the club as we continue our rebuild, with a new forward being one of the positions that will be given the utmost attention in the coming days.

Reporting on The West Ham Way Patreon, our Podcast co-host and club insider Ex advised that we have another striker identified as a potential option as we narrow down our search.

“We can confirm that Alexander Sorloth of Villarreal is on a list of potential forward signings,” stated Ex.

“It has been confirmed to me that we do really hope to try and narrow down our main forwards targets in the coming days. Sources have said to me it is his position of forward that carries the greatest pressure on the recruitment team to get right after high profile signings of Haller, Scamacca and Ings have all not really paid off in recent seasons.

“We have listed many targets before and West Ham do intend to narrow this list down however one name to add to it is Sorloth. The 6’5 striker plays alongside Erling Haaland for the Norwegian national team and had a great season in La Liga last year.

“There is a lot of competition for the player and he is said to be valued at around the £35m mark. The club may consider this to be too much for a player who had struggle in a previous spell in the Premier League for Crystal Palace and is also 29 next season.

“The club hope to add a forward who is a good mix of price, quality and potential so are thinking carefully about the next move.”

Ex will be keeping fans up to date on the clubs transfer activity as it develops on Patreon.
