Nationwide Fleet Services has appointed Ricky Mitchell as its new national sales manager for the UK and Ireland, from this month (October).

In his new role, Mitchell will have an influential role in the company’s growth in business acquisition, offering tyres, breakdown recovery, vehicle maintenance and MOT testing, says Nationwide Fleet Services.

Mitchell withholds 15 years’ experience in fleet support, vehicle recovery, contract hire and maintenance repair, having held roles at Apollo Vredestein UK, ATS Euromaster, Acclaim Handling and the RAC.

Nick Diment, managing director at Nationwide Fleet Services, said: “Ricky’s appointment is a reflection of our overall strategy to equip Nationwide Fleet Services with the business development leadership that it needs to keep thriving.”

Mitchell will report to Nick Diment, managing director of Nationwide Fleet Services.

Mitchell said: “My track record in winning new national fleet accounts, coupled with my knowledge of the tyre industry, will keep me in good stead in my new exciting role.”

Whistl announce Dave Twiddle as new director of operations, mail and parcel business

Dave Twiddle has been promoted to the new role of director of operations, mail and parcel business, at Whistl.

During the six years he’s worked with Whistl, Twiddle has held operational leaderships roles including head of operations before becoming operations director in October 2019. Twiddle also joins the Executive Board of Management.

Nick Wells, CEO of Whistl, said: “Many congratulations to Dave on his well-deserved promotion to his new role and on joining the Executive Board. He has played a central role in the development of our network, supporting and developing our teams to deliver industry leading service to our customers.”

After graduating with a degree in politics, Twiddle started his logistics management career at Royal Mail. He then progressed with companies including Scottish & Newcastle Breweries, Kuehne & Nagel and Dairy Crest.

Former BCA director Eddie Thomson joins Adesa UK

Adesa UK has appointed Eddie Thomson as its new head of business development, effective immediately.

Thomson will lead the next stage of Adesa’s growth, says Adesa, by strengthening key partnerships and recruiting more leasing companies, fleets, OEMs and dealers to its digital-only Upstream remarketing platform.

Thomson joins from BCA where he held the position of sales and operations director for Scotland, prior to which he was national operations director for SMA Vehicle Remarketing.

Jonathan Holland, managing director at Adesa UK, said: “Eddie is a highly experienced remarketing professional who will help accelerate Adesa UK’s digital remarketing strategy and create a more engaging marketplace for buyers and sellers.

“For Adesa UK, strengthening our remarketing partnerships means more opportunity and more inventory for dealers to source fresh stock for their forecourts.”

Thomson said, “I relish this opportunity to work at the cutting-edge of digital remarketing at a time when transacting online has become the new default route for vendors and buyers.”

GHD appoints Jonathan Edwards as transport market leader for EMEA

Jonathan Edwards has been appointed as transport market leader for EMEA at GHD.

Edwards has several years’ experience working with infrastructure organisations on transport projects across aviation, highways and rail, says GHD.

He joins from Arora Group, where he held the position of group operations director, focusing on the group’s Heathrow West expansion proposal for Heathrow Airport.

Prior to this, he spent seven years at Arcadis as director, where his clients and projects included the Civil Aviation Authority, Digital Railway (Network Rail), Lower Thames Crossing (Highways England), Stansted Airport, Future Cities Catapult, Transport for London (TfL) and HS2, amongst others.

Simon Light, executive managing director EMEA at GHD, said: “Transportation is a key industry for us, and Jonathan’s sector expertise, experience and relationships will be highly valuable as we continue to grow our offering across the EMEA region.

Drover announces COO and CMO hires

Drover says it has added strength to its senior leadership team with the appointment of Chris Moysen as new chief operating officer and Alex Rose as chief marketing officer.

Moysen has held several senior management positions within the fleet sector over the past 25 years, including roles at Hertz and Northgate. 

Following roles at BMW and Google UK over the past seven years, Rose has operated as marketing director or trading director at Carwow and WhoCanFixMyCar.

Rose will assume responsibility for all aspects of marketing, while using his trading experience to manage vehicle mix, pricing and yield management.

Rose said: “Flexible subscriptions and all-in-one payments are increasingly seen as the smart, simple way to access products and services, and Drover’s growth shows that this model is also ideally suited to car ownership, for a significant proportion of drivers.

“I am excited by the opportunity to change today’s fragmented car purchase and ownership process.”

Drover says it has also strengthened its asset management and supply chain team with the appointment of Paul Winter as its new VP of fleet procurement.

Winter has 30 years’ experience in the fleet and rental industry having served over 15 of those as the fleet director for Hertz UK.

Winter will be joining the business in November.

ISS announces senior appointment to lead new software division

Innovative Safety Systems (ISS) has announced the appointment of David Gladding as commercial director of its new Fleetclear division.

Gladding has over 25 years’ experience working with the software space, specialising in the automation of processes, primarily for cloud businesses. He has spent the last seven years in fleet management.

Gavin Thoday, chief executive officer at ISS said: “Fleetclear is a new software solution that will enable fleet operators to have access to a whole new level of information and visibility for their entire fleet.

“David has an impressive track record in developing and marketing fleet management software solutions and will help us to accelerate our plans in this area.”
