To help residents prepare, Arun District Council has gathered all the information they will need to know before voting.
Poll cards will soon be delivered by post and these will show the location of resident’s assigned polling stations as well as the voting times, which will be between 7am and 10pm.

Photo ID will also now be needed by anyone voting, including by those voting on someone else’s behalf.
People without photo ID can apply for a voter authority certificate at www.voter-authority-certificate.service.gov.uk.
A spokesman for the council said: “If you hand deliver your postal vote either to a polling station, or the Civic Centre in Littlehampton, you must now complete a form with a member of staff or your postal vote will be rejected. This does not apply to postal votes returned to us via Royal Mail. Please do not put you completed postal vote in either of the letterboxes at the Civic Centre or Bognor Regis Town Hall.”
The council said if residents are not yet registered to vote or wish to apply to vote by post or proxy, which is when someone votes on your behalf, the deadlines for this election are as follows:
- New applications to register to vote – April 16
- New applications to vote by post or to cancel or amend an existing postal vote or proxy appointment – April 17 at 5pm
- Postal vote packs will start to be issued on April 18
- New applications to vote by proxy – April 24 at 5pm
- New applications for a Voter Authority Certificate – April 24 at 5pm
- Applications for an emergency proxy vote – May 2 at 5pm
The electoral area for Sussex includes all 13 local authorities across the county. Not all candidates standing have yet been confirmed but those who have are the current PCC Katy Bourne, Paul Richards for the Labour and Co-operative Party, and Jamie Bennett for the Liberal Democrats.
