Instabox to install 550 parcel lockers at Dutch supermarket chain

Sweden based parcel locker providers Instabox is to install 550 units at the Dutch supermarket chain PLUS, which will then ensure nationwide coverage for the parcel locker provider.

PLUS has 550 stores across the Netherlands and is one of the biggest supermarket chains in the country. It has already had one Instabox unit installed at Verhoeven as a pilot, which was well used by PLUS customers. It has since added over 100 to the network.

“With the addition of Instabox, we offer an extra service to our customers, who will soon be able to pick up their packages without having to wait. Our national coverage ensures that this solution is accessible to millions of people. In addition, the more sustainable way of delivering parcels fits very well with the values that we find important”, says Peter van Mourik, Marketing Director at PLUS.

Instabox already has parcel locker networks in the Netherlands, Germany, Norway and its home market of Sweden. It currently has 350 units across the Netherlands.

“We are very happy to announce our long-term partnership with PLUS. Their ambition to be  “good for the neighborhood” fits well with our strengths, both offering a delightful way of receiving e-commerce parcels and our focus on sustainability”, says David Lundqvist, Chief Commercial Officer at Instabox.

The parcel locker company can deliver 100 parcels in a single drop to a parcel locker unit instead of making 100 separate drops to individual customers. This significantly reduces the carbon emissions per parcel for its clients by reducing congestion and pollution.
