Although the invention of social media is viewed as a blessing to mankind, there are factors associated with it that users fear.
Stalking fellow members on platforms has been one such concern that has caused debate since social networking apps were first introduced.
To counter that problem, TikTok recently rolled out the Profile Views feature, which allows users to see who has visited their accounts.
Instagram doesn’t have that feature just yet and the photo-sharing platform’s users have now claimed that they don’t want it.

Instagram hasn’t introduced the feature
Ever since TikTok introduced the Profile Views option, social media users are curious to know if there is any way to find out who viewed your account on Instagram.
However, the photo-sharing app hasn’t hinted at bringing this feature to its platform just yet.
At the time of writing, Instagram only allows users to see who viewed their Highlights and Stories.
How to turn off Profile Views on TikTok
The feature was recently made available on TikTok and some users aren’t sure how it works.
Although the thought of someone stalking you is scary, the feature works only when both users have turned it on in order to be seen.
If you want to turn it off, here’s how:
- Open your TikTok profile
- Select the three dashes on the top right-hand corner and select the eye symbol
- The ‘turn off profile view history’ option will appear if you have already turned it on.
- Select ‘Turn Off’ to disable the feature.
If the Profile Views option is turned off on your profile, fellow TikTokers will not find out when you view their account, even if they have it on.

Instagram users are against it
Several panicked Instagram users have urged the platform to not introduce the feature after TikTok rolled it out.
“If they ever introduced profile views on Instagram, I’m done for,” wrote one.
Adding to the above tweet, another shared: “Hopefully Instagram and Twitter don’t add the profile view option.”
Another user tweeted: “Instagram please don’t add the profile views feature, thank you.”
