Designed to bring a splash of colour and style to any living room or bedroom wall, the luxury interiors collection will be available from Royal Mail’s new online store from 1 April.
Based on Royal Mail’s iconic colours, Postbox Red is set to be a firm favourite among interior designers and discerning DIY enthusiasts, evoking the UK’s much-loved post boxes, postie uniforms and delivery vans.
Danish-born designer Helena Hebda-Olsen, famed for her work with a range of international homeware brands, created the exclusive online collection in partnership with the newly established Royal Mail Luxury Interiors team.
Helena, who now lives in Yorkshire, accompanied veteran postman Bill Davies on his rounds in Leeds to experience the challenges of the job first-hand and learn all about the art of delivering the nation’s mail.
Helena Hebda-Olsen said: “I learned so much from Bill – he has worked as a postman for 46 years. He was my muse for the collection. From the ground we walked on, our shared experience of the customers we met, and the air we breathed, it was about taking the experience of being a person who delivers letters and parcels to the masses, stewing it in the history of this iconic brand, and distilling it for people to enjoy in their own homes.”
Colours from the range are available in 1L and 2.5L matte or silk finishes and include:
Postbox Red – rooted in regency, timeless and familiar, the cornerstone of Victorian tradition in a modern world. Brighten up your home with our iconic cheery crimson red, ideal for feature walls.- Airmail – captures the unmistakable blue of an airmail label. With an air of timelessness, blending the past’s charm with a hint of modernity, perfect for creating a space that feels both energetic and calming, like the promise of a letter sent and received.
- Parcel – a muted, neutral, earthy colour bringing calm to your space, perfect for pairing with the cool-toned Manila Ice, coming to the collection this summer.
- Pave the Way – an inclusive, friendly, and enduring warm and vibrant steel-toned pigeon silver, perfect for an industrial jungle-chic vibe paired with our countryside-inspired green, Rural Round.
- Rural Round – bring the outside in with this distinguished and deliciously impish verdant hue.
- Penny Black – quintessentially rich, full, Indian inky black, laden with the essence of traditional regal charm, ideally paired with Par Avion, or Slate Shorts – both coming to the collection later this year.
Helena Hebda-Olsen added: “I’ve reimagined the contribution letters and parcels make to the country and now, with this collection, the nation can celebrate along with us. The collection is continually evolving in my design studio, where I am mixing even more paint shades to come this summer.”
Margot Chase, Head of Royal Mail Luxury Interiors, said: “We’re all used to Royal Mail at our doors, but now you can take it inside your home too. Collaborating with a young, vibrant, and talented designer like Helena meant we could achieve a real urban-meets-rural vibe for this collection. We wanted it to be bespoke and aspirational yet accessible to all, with an immersive aesthetic for the home. Helena has outdone herself, creating a timeless collection centred around our iconic shade of red. The collection is a testament to how ubiquitous and iconic Royal Mail is in British life.”
