Inverness’s main post office will close for the last time today (Christmas Eve) – ending a presence at Queensgate dating back to the 19th century.
With a replacement service already in operation within Church Street’s Co-op supermarket, the 1960s built premises is expected to shut at 4pm on December 24.
The current building replaced the historic former structure built between 1888 and 1890, and first opened in September 1890.
Royal Mail announced back in April plans to franchise out its last remaining directly-managed sites, including Inverness.
