After looking at several agencies, the borough council decided to give an award to Royal Mail to carry out collections and deliveries of letters, large letters, and parcels for the next year.
The award has cost the council £100,000 – which is more than the previous year when it cost them £96,636.50.
The council said: “Royal Mail were selected as the most cost-efficient provider that could meet the specification criteria.
“The remaining suppliers were unable to provide all the requirements and/or offered prices higher than Royal Mail.”
Recently, the council handed someone a bill of 55p, following which a spokesperson for Ipswich Borough Council said: “We have now taken action to cancel these low value bills previously issued to such a small number of our customers, including Mr Pilcher, and will be advising them accordingly.”
