ROYAL Mail has revealed its Christmastime calendar, letting customers know when posties are putting their feet up over the festive period.
Here’s everything you need to know if you’re wondering exactly when a postponed present or late letter is going to finally arrive at your doorstep.

Boxing Day is a bank holiday across the UK, with Royal Mail treating it as a full day off for deliveries and collections.
This means postal workers do not deliver letters, parcels or signed-for items to homes or businesses, and postboxes are not collected.
The suspension covers all standard services such as 1st and 2nd Class, Tracked 24 and 48, Special Delivery Guaranteed and business mail.
So nothing is scheduled to arrive through the letterbox from Royal Mail on Boxing Day.
Royal Mail’s website explains the following:
- Friday, December 26: There will be no deliveries or collections of mail on Boxing Day
- Saturday, December 27: Usual weekend delivery and collection services are expected to take place, and Customer Service Points are open to collect items Royal Mail left a ‘Something for you’ card for – you can use the locator tool to find opening times
- Sunday, December 28: Normal Sunday parcel deliveries are expected
In the run up to Christmas, Royal Mail issued an awkward alert for anybody looking forward to opening their Christmas keepsakes in time for the big day.
The postal service revealed that some of its local offices were struggling because of staff shortages due to illness and other local logistical issues.
This meant deliveries could not be guaranteed to scores of postcodes spanning the length and breadth of the UK.
However, delivery rounds were rotated to reduce backlogs, with extra support sent to the worst-hit offices.
Royal Mail said: “We aim to deliver to all addresses we have mail for, six days a week.
“In a small number of local offices, this may temporarily not be possible due to local issues such as high levels of sick absence, resourcing, or other local factors.
“In those cases, we will rotate deliveries to minimise the delay to individual customers.”
The update followed a £21 million fine issued by Ofcom in November after Royal Mail failed to meet its targets for 2024/25, with the service only delivering 77 per cent of first-class and 92.5 per cent of second-class mail on-time, well below its targets of 93 per cent and 98.5 per cent.
This made it the third year in a row the company has breached its regulatory obligations, with previous fines of £5.6 million in 2023 and £10.5 million in 2024.
Ofcom has warned that further fines could follow unless Royal Mail submits a plausible improvement plan, with its Director of Enforcement Ian Strawhorne saying customers “aren’t getting what they paid for” and “deserve better”.
