“We only meet up when we were going through terrible times and we wanted to put something together that gave us some joy.”
The Post Office scandal is a series of wrongful convictions that occurred when the Post Office prosecuted sub-postmasters for false accounting and theft.
The scandal was caused by faults in the Post Office’s computer system, Horizon.
Viewers of the ITV talent contest couldn’t hold back their tears while witnessing the poignant and impactful exhibition by the group.
An outraged Simon Cowell shared his support, saying: “I really hope you win this battle because it was disgusting how you were all treated.
“I think what happened is what happens when idiots are in charge.
“They were bullies, they were stupid, incompetent and crooked. You’ve risen above this and you’re going to win because the public is behind you.”
After the performance, Simon said he felt very emotional. He added: “And you’re going to win because the public are behind you.”
But viewers were shocked they did not receive a golden buzzer which would have sent them straight through to the semi-final.
One viewer wrote on X: “The Post Office scandal group have gone through hell, came out on stage to do that then still didn’t get the Golden Buzzer.”
A second said: “Hands down the post office people should win BGT end off, cus imagine having a f****** software system ruin ya life lose everything end up in prison or even ending their lives cus of it. The people who did them wrong just do the right thing & end it for them #BritainsGotTalent.”
A third echoed: “Holy s*** they’re good! Really really good! Which makes voting for them a lot easier because this Post Office scandal choir is definitely going to win #BGT this year!”
