Jeremy Corbyn would increase spending more than three times faster than Gordon Brown did, with Labour’s pledges amounting to an additional splurge of £1.2 trillion over five years, according to the Chancellor.
The Conservatives will on Sunday publish a dossier setting out calculations that Sajid Javid said showed the “true cost of Corbyn”, including taxes set at the “highest level we’ve ever seen in peacetime”.
Mr Javid said the 36-page document, drawn up by the Conservative Research Department, set out “the numbers that Labour did not want you to see”, after John McDonnell objected to plans for the Treasury to publish an analysis of his fiscal plans last week.
