Representing the blueprint of Jimmy Choo and the notion of “women designing for women”, the glamorous collection draws from Jimmy Choo’s 1997 – 2001 archive.
The collection spotlights a selection of key themes that have shaped the Jimmy Choo brand across three decades: animal print, slick boots, unique design detail, a love of asymmetry and the perfect strappy sandal.
Each pair is a definitive statement of femininity, and the style names define the archetypes: ‘The Boot’, ‘The Thong’, ‘The Slide’ and ‘The Strappy’.
Key to the collection is the ‘72138’, made iconic by Sarah Jessica Parker as Carrie Bradshaw in ‘Sex and the City’ – with her line “I lost my Choo!” – a moment which catapulted the brand from fashion insider to become a global pop culture phenomenon.
Designed in 1998 and coming in soft suede and in a shade of lilac decorated with “dream-like feathers”, the shoe has been reissued for the first time since its introduction and transformation into a Jimmy Choo icon.
Sandra Choi, Creative Director at Jimmy Choo, said: “We looked at three decades of work and dialled back to the first five years. Why? Because those years truly represent the heart and soul of Jimmy Choo – they’re our roots, where it all began.
“In looking at these styles, I saw ideas that are still essential to Jimmy Choo today – eternal values of glamour, of femininity, combined with make and craft.
“This was a fascinating exercise for me – to see Jimmy Choo through other people’s eyes. This collection is about where we’ve come from, and what we stand for and where we continue to go. It’s a celebration, pure and simple – and Jimmy Choo can always ignite a party.”
Established as a ready-to-wear business in 1996, Jimmy Choo actually began life under its eponymous founder creating bespoke shoes for the global jet-set, including Diana Princess of Wales.
