Joe McElderry was left in shock when a Christmas card landed on his door mat with a VERY vague address on the envelope.
With Christmas fast approaching, Joe, who won The X Factor 11 years ago now, has received a number of cards from fans but on Thursday he shared a picture of one that did very well to reach him given the ambiguous address it was sent to.
Sharing a picture of the envelope which read ‘Joe McEderry, Somewhere in South Shields, Newcastle, NE ?’ with ‘challenge for the Royal Mail!’ on the back, Joe posted: “This card arrived this morning! The address Somewhere in South Shields! Made me laugh!!
“Thanks Royal Mail for getting it to me!”
Speaking to ChronicleLive, Joe said: “I’m very pleased they were able to find my address and it was just quite comical…somewhere in South Shields…that really made us laugh!
“But hats off to the Royal Mail, I know it’s a real hard time of year for them with Christmas and everything going on delivery wise with online stuff and in the pandemic and everything, so I appreciate their time and effort and hats off to them.”

Joe, 29, has been kept busy over the past couple of weeks by regular Zoom concerts and his singing advent calendar which has seen him sing a song every day on Facebook Live for his fans.
His repertoire so far has included everything from Sia’s Chandelier to a re-written version of Any Dream Will Do, with new lyrics in support of everyone in the entertainment world who have been heartbroken by the devastating effect of the coronavirus pandemic on their industry.
He’s also just released a cover of O Holy Night, with the video shot at sunrise on the cliffs at South Shields.
Joe was meant to be on stage at Newcastle Theatre Royal this Christmas but, after hopes this year’s pantomime might be able to go ahead as socially distanced production, it has now been postponed until Easter.
