Jonnie Irwin shares ‘painful’ picture after family road trip

TV presenter Jonnie Irwin shared a painful-looking picture with his fans after a five-hour road trip with his family. The star, who was diagnosed with terminal cancer and shares updates on his work and family life on Instagram, said the trip had been ‘acoustic hell’.

Jonnie, presenter of shows including A Place In The Sun, took to his Instagram page to share a snap of him, his wife, and his children sitting in the car. Jonnie looked stressed as the kids wreaked havoc in the backseat. He captioned the post: “5 hours on and off in car with the boys. Each one with a tablet/screen without headphones! Acoustic hell!”

His wife Jess took the wheel as she jokingly furrowed her brows as she tried to focus on the road, reports The Mirror. Jonnie sat in the passenger seat and stared down the camera lens with a pained expression in his eyes. Fans shared his pain.

“I can see the pained look in both your faces,” one user joked while another posted: “The pain is literally written all over your faces. been there done that… you can’t beat it gotta love kids.” One optimistic fan said: “Oh no, what a long journey for you all. Hopefully, you’ll all have a lovely time at your destination.”

TheA Place In The Sunpresenter revealed last year how he is unsure how long he has left to live, after being diagnosed with lung cancer in August 2020, which has since spread to his brain. He has yet to tell his three young sons about his cancer diagnosis as it wouldsimply ‘confuse’ them.

Earlier this month, Jonnie got emotional as he marked his ‘last ever’ trip to nursery with his eldest son Rex, four. The TV presenter shared a sweet snap of himself and his three boys riding on their bikes as Rex headed off to his final day at nursery this summer. Jonnie beamed in the wholesome family snap as he kept warm in a dark green coat and neck scarf while cycling a yellow bike – despite admitting recently that he feels himself getting ‘a lot weaker’ amid his cancer battle.

“Last EVER ride to nursery with Rex. Suitably waved off by Rafa and his spade and Rex with his game face on,” Jonnie emotionally wrote alongside the sweet snap. Jonnie then posted another snap of him and Rex riding their bikes to nursery as he marked the bittersweet moment as a dad-of-three.
