Princess Kate has made a private outing public after a visit to the Royal Opera House last weekend.
The Princess of Wales shared a message of thanks to the Royal Ballet on social media following the personal trip.
In a short message posted to the Prince and Princess of Wales’s Instagram story, the princess wrote: “Thank you to The Royal Ballet for an amazing evening of creative inspiration at Woolf Works this weekend! C”.
GB News understands that Kate attended the performance privately and really enjoyed it, prompting her decision to publicly thank the company afterwards.
The visit did not form part of the princess’s official public diary.
The mother-of-three’s decision to post publicly about the evening nevertheless signalled a willingness to spotlight organisations and creative projects she finds personally inspiring.
The princess’s message of thanks offered a rare glimpse into her personal cultural interests while reinforcing her quiet support for Britain’s leading artistic institutions.
The performance attended by Kate was Woolf Works, an acclaimed contemporary ballet by resident choreographer Wayne McGregor, staged at the Royal Opera House by the Royal Ballet.

The Royal Ballet and Opera subsequently shared their own post about the production, describing Woolf Works as a piece that “drifts through memory, language and sensation”, drawing inspiration from the inner worlds of Virginia Woolf.
Created by Mr McGregor, the Olivier Award-winning triptych explores Virginia Woolf’s writing through movement, sound and visual design, with emotion “rising and receding like a tide of consciousness”.
The ballet is set to an original score by composer Max Richter and has been widely praised for its immersive combination of choreography, music and film.
Images shared by the Royal Ballet and Opera show dancers from the company performing scenes from the production, including Natalia Osipova, Sarah Lamb, William Bracewell and Fumi Kaneko.

The creative team behind Woolf Works includes designer Ciguë, costume designer Moritz Junge, lighting designer Lucy Carter, film designer Ravi Deepres and dramaturg Uzma Hameed.
The production is currently running on the Royal Opera House’s Main Stage and is scheduled to continue until February 13.
The princess’s visit highlights her long-standing interest in the arts, particularly dance, photography and creative expression, themes that have increasingly featured in her public work in recent years.
