Kate Middleton latest news: Royal Foundation with Prince William suffers fresh staff blow | Royal | News

Previously, the Sussexes announced they would be moving away from the Royal Foundation, a charity set up to incorporate all four royals. They decided to move to set up their own charity, entitled ’Sussex Royal’. After the announcement, the Royal Foundation’s director of insight and innovation Natalie Campbell also confirmed she would be joining the Sussexes new organisation.

But in the latest development, the Royal Foundation’s chief executive officer Lorraine Heggessey has stood down.

According to Honey Nine, she will be replaced by Jason Knauf, the former communications chief for Kate and William.

In a statement, the Cambridge said: “Lorraine has played an integral role in our charitable initiatives over the last two-and-a-half years.

“We are very grateful for her hard work and support, and wish her the very best for the future.

“We are pleased that Jason has been appointed as CEO and very much look forward to working with him in his new role.”

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex added: “It has been a great pleasure to work alongside Lorraine over the past couple of years, to champion the causes that we feel so strongly about, and we wish her well for the next stage of her career.”

The Sussexes new project will focus on the “environment and community”.

It has been boosted by a donation from a campaign to protect lions in Africa.

The couple confirmed their intentions for the charity following the premiere of The Lion King.

They announced that Walt Disney’s Protect the Pride campaign had contributed to their project.

The project is expected to launch in the autumn.

Harry is a longtime campaigner against the poaching of lions and has in the past worked with the South African military to protect the country’s rapidly decreasing population.
