Kate, Princess of Wales: Achieve royal’s ‘glossy and thick’ hair with ‘key’ tip

Rhysa Phommachanh from skincare and beauty experts Landys Chemist spoke exclusively to Express.co.uk about the easy ways to maintain thick, shiny hair at home. According to Rhysa, healthy hair is “key” to achieving locks like Kate’s.

“Kate Middleton’s hair is often envied for its glossy, long, and thick appearance,” Rhysa noted.

The first step to achieving this is to “keep your hair healthy”. The expert continued: “Healthy hair is key to achieving Kate Middleton’s hair.

“Make sure to trim split ends regularly, use a hair mask once a week, and avoid using excessive heat styling tools.”

Using a high quality shampoo and conditioner can also help – and it is best to find one that suits your hair type, Rhysa said.

It should also contain “nourishing ingredients like argan oil, coconut oil, or keratin are key to achieving thickness and maintaining healthy ends”.

It’s not a crime to use heat styling tools on your hair from time to time, but Rhysa stressed that it’s important to “always use heat protection sprays and hydrating oils”.

“Argan oil can be used when using heat styling tools too to prevent heat damage,” she added.

To achieve Kate’s hair style, which is often wavy or straight, the easiest way is to blow-dry it.

“Apply the moose at the root for that extra lift. Flip your head upside down and blow-dry your hair to add even more volume.”

It is also worth adding a finishing product to the hair to “achieve Kate’s glossy hair”.

“Finish your hairstyle with a shine spray or run a serum through the lengths of your hair to add hydration and create a silky shiny look,” Rhysa said.

It may also be a good idea to consider hair extensions. The expert continued: “If you have thin or short hair, hair extensions can help you achieve Kate Middleton’s thick, luscious locks. Consult with a professional stylist to find the right type of extensions for you.”

Brooke Evans, owner of a hair salon of the same name in Ironbridge, Shropshire, agreed with Rhysa that hair extensions could help create the “Kate Middleton effect”.

She told Express.co.uk: “Hair extensions are a great option not only for length but thickness too.

“I use and recommend ethically sourced and multi award winning hair extensions by Racoon. Hair wefts can easily be added to the hair by tape to give fuller thicker longer hair.”

Brooke added that diet is also important when it comes to achieving thick and healthy hair, saying: “We know that a diet rich in protein is the source to healthy hair and scalp, and this is the start point.

“Kate will use various salon pro products on her hair including a three-step hair routine of shampoo formulated for shine and moisture, a conditioner for detangling and aligning the cuticle scales, and a deep moisturising treatment mask weekly to ensure the conditioning goes beyond the outer layer of the hair the cuticle,” the expert added.
