He first revealed Diana, Princess Of Wales was in talks to star in The Bodyguard sequel back in 2012.
And Kevin Costner has spoken in greater depth about his plans to have the ill-fated royal play a love-interest role similar to Whitney Houston in the first film, in a recent interview with PeopleTV.
‘I just remember [Diana] being incredibly sweet on the phone, and she asked the question, she goes, “Are we going to have like a kissing scene?”’ recalled the 64-year-old actor.

The Academy Award winning director said the by then ex-wife of Charles, Prince Of Wales was concerned about public perception regarding any on-screen kissing ‘because her life was very governed’.
But he assuaged her fears, telling Diana, ‘Yeah, there’s going to be a little bit of that, but we can make that okay too.’
The Yellowstone actor also revealed that Sarah Ferguson, aka the Duchess of York, aka Fergie, was instrumental in putting him in touch with the late princess.
‘I always respect Sarah because she’s the one that set up the conversation between me and Diana,’ said Kevin.
‘She was the one that set it up, and she never said, “Well, what about me? I’m a princess too.” She was just so supportive of the idea.’
But Diana tragically passed away before she could even read the script, after her car crashed in a Paris tunnel on 31 August 1997.

And the news about Diana’s role in the mooted sequel is not the only Bodyguard-related bombshell to drop this month.
Earlier in June, Costner revealed the iconic poster for the film actually featured a body double for Whitney Houston.
‘That wasn’t even Whitney actually,’ said the veteran actor in an interview with Entertainment Weekly.

The Dances With Wolves star continued ‘[Whitney] had gone home and that was her double, and her head was buried into my shoulder, which was appropriate anyway.’
‘She was frightened.’
Costner also claimed credit for choosing the final image selected for use on the 1992 film’s promotional materials, saying it was snapped by his photographer pal Ben Glass.
‘I sent it to Warner Brothers and I go, “There’s the poster.”‘

The movie saw Costner take on the role of ex Secret Service agent Frank Farmer, who is assigned to serve as a bodyguard for R&B singer Rachel Marron, played by Saving All My Love For You hitmaker Whitney.
The Bodyguard turned out to be a gigantic hit for its studio, Warner Bros, amassing over $400million worldwide and landing at number seven on the US domestic box office chart for 1992.
It also garnered two Oscar nominations.
Houston died tragically in 2012, with her death determined to be accidental drowning in a bathtub, with heart disease and cocaine use as contributing factors.
