Should Kevin McDonald make his long-awaited return to a football pitch this afternoon, then it will be the latest step of a journey that has not been without its hiccups. The 33-year-old has signed a six-month contract at Dundee United, the former Dundee youngster having returned to Tayside following the kidney transplant which led him to believe that retirement from the game was inevitable. He could make his United debut when they make the short trip to face St Johnstone at McDiarmid Park.
