This afternoon (Friday, March 27), the 77-year-old will be visiting Oxford Photovoltaics in Yarnton near Oxford and Kidlington.
The firm, known as Oxford PV, is a leading solar energy innovator and manufacturer founded in 2010, operating in the field of Perovskite-based PV.
An official royal statement said: “The King will visit Oxford PV, a globally recognised pioneer of next-generation solar technology, to meet members of staff and see some of the technology in action.

“After being greeted by the executive team, His Majesty will receive an overview of the business and watch a demonstration of the ‘magic material’ perovskite, responsible for the higher efficiency of the solar technology.
“In the laboratory, the King will meet the technology team, tour the facility and view components under microscopes.
“His Majesty will hear from staff about the real-world applications of the solar panels and their sustainable impact on the environment.

“The business’s mission is to make perovskite solar technology mainstream, with the higher efficiency of the panels enabling smarter use of the green environment.
“Oxford PV has been at the forefront of solar innovation since 2010.
“By combining conventional silicon with advanced perovskite materials, Oxford PV’s tandem solar technology delivers at least 20 per cent more power than standard silicon panels within the same area.
“The company employs around 150 highly skilled professionals worldwide, including approximately 60 staff based at its R&D and global headquarters in Oxford.”
