King Charles III visited the biggest Corn Flakes factory in the world where he sparked laughter after cracking a joke about missing an anniversary.
Charles paid a visit to the Manchester Kellogg’s site, where he cracked jokes with workers, saying he was a year late for Kellogg’s its 100th anniversary. The cereal manufacturer was first introduced in Britain in 1922 and the King was there to unveil a plaque that marked his visit and 100 years of “bringing breakfast to Britain.”
His Majesty joked: “Sorry I’m a year late” to the amusement of everyone there. He was then given a tour of the plant, where he looked around the culinary centre, which has a new research and development hub, and viewed cooking demonstrations and cereal.

The King also took time to chat to the workers there, saying that he thinks molasses is “very special” before putting on a white coat to have a walk through the factory floor.
Kellogg’s has been a holder of the Royal Warrant since the the years of King George VI. Cereal from the business was historically delivered to Buckingham Palace in a small van called Genevieve.
A group of interns and engineering apprentices also had the opportunity to talk to the King for an hour. After the King departed, Chris Silcock, Kellogg’s managing director for UK and Ireland, said it was “fantastic” he had made a visit.
He said: “It doesn’t get any better than that for us.”
Mr Silcock also added that he thought Charles was “so warm and engaging”. He added that he was delighted to see the King’s “focus on people”.
