Kinsale 7s is back with a bang this May Bank Holiday weekend

If you haven’t made plans for the May Bank Holiday weekend yet – Kinsale has got you covered. The legendary Kinsale 7s are back for the second year in a row following an enforced pandemic hiatus and it should be an epic weekend.

Due to run on May 4th and 5th, there will be over 50 teams of all ages and abilities, from Ireland, the UK and beyond, converging on the historic port town for a brilliant few days of sport.

Team Registrations are still open and can be filed through the official Kinsale 7s website where you will also find all the details about the weekend to come, including transport and hospitality around the sport.

As well as all of the sporting endeavor – there will also be a chance for fans to recreate one of the most famous Kinsale 7s moments of all – the slippery slope that went viral on social media back in 2018.

The 7s have been officially launched by Ireland & Munster Star David Kilcoyne on behalf of Kinsale RFC and sponsors Heineken at a gala event at the Kinsale Hotel and Spa.

There will be over 150 matches played across two days on 5 pitches and all run by a huge, volunteer team. There are already several high-profile elite teams confirmed including the Saratoga Jockeys from New York, Speranza 22 founded in Abu Dhabi, and Welsh elite team Butcher 7s.

Kinsale Rugby President Paul Kingston praised the volunteerism that goes into organizing such an event saying; “Our club is very lucky to have so many great volunteers who make the event run so smoothly. This event is a celebration of local club rugby, and it is thanks to our community that it remains such a popular event.”
