Lady Louise Windsor borrows mother Sophie Wessex’s Stella McCartney coat for royal church service

Lady Louise Windsor proved she was just like any other teenager after raiding her mother’s wardrobe for an outfit perfect for church with the Queen yesterday.

Royal fan @Polka_Popp spotted on Twitter that Lady Louise, 16, borrowed the navy Stella McCartney Vivienne coat worth £1,135 from her mother Sophie Wessex, 54, who first wore it to the Commonwealth Day service in March last year.

The teenager cut a striking figure as she joined her grandmother, 93, and other senior royals including Prince Edward, 55, Prince Charles, 71, and Princess Anne, 69, for the service at the St. Mary Magdalene Church in Sandringham yesterday.

And it’s not the first time in recent days the teenager has worn something from her mother’s wardrobe, having borrowed a different outfit from the royal for the Christmas Day service on Wednesday.

Lady Louise, who is the Queen’s youngest granddaughter, looked elegant in the navy coat yesterday, which she paired with matching L.K. Bennett Clemence pumps.

The teenager, who celebrated her sixteenth birthday last month, swept her hair back into a neat plait for the occasion.

Her mother Sophie was first seen wearing the coat to the Commonwealth Service at Westminster Abbey in March last year.

At the time, she paired it with an eye-catching camel fascinator, a Sophie Habsburg bag and a pair of suede pointed pumps by Prada.

It’s not the first time that the royal teenager has been spotted wearing pieces from her mother’s wardrobe this week.

On Christmas Day the young royal donned another of Sophie’s Stella McCartney coats, along with her Sophie Habsburg clutch.

Lady Louise chose the loose-fitting piece, which features oversized lapels, flap pocket at the hip and double breasted button, for the walk to church on Wednesday.

She paired it with a trendy pink headband, believed to be from Jane Taylor, who is one of her mother’s favourite milliners.

The stylish royal finished off the outfit with Chloé ‘Lauren’ flats worth £325.

Lady Louise is Edward and Sophie’s eldest child and only daughter – she is twelfth in line to the throne and is the Queen’s youngest granddaughter.

Her father, the Earl of Wessex, is tenth in line to the throne, which will be succeeded by his elder brother, Charles.

Lady Louise and her brother James join the royal family for major events, such as Trooping the Colour, but have largely grown up away from the limelight.
