Lake District waterfront hotel and spa for sale for £3.95m

The striking building was constructed in the late 19th century and first saw life as working Victorian mill. According to local historian Ronald Mein, many industries have existed on the site of the luxurious hotel over the centuries.

The earliest of which is a corn mill that existed in Tudor times during the reign of Queen Elizabeth the first. The mill’s latest operation ceased in 1978 and later reopened as a hotel in 1984.

The hotel has six floors in total and offers access to the Cascades Health & Fitness Club leisure club via a second floor bridge corridor over the village through road.

The premises also boasts a Riverside restaurant and Dolly Blue bar which was named after the pigment factory that made the world famous Dolly Blue. This was the last manufacturing venture of the mill and the blue pigment bags became a revolutionary way for laundries to bring whiter than white look to their customers laundry. These bags became known fondly as ‘Dolly Blues’.

Alongside the riverside restaurant is another lounge bar arranged over two levels and a conservatory styled private dining room.

There is also a fully functioning kitchen, a staff room and storage areas located in the basement floor of the hotel. Air conditioning is in the bar areas and the leisure complex and all floors are accessible via lifts.

The impressive Cascades Health & Fitness Club has a heated swimming pool with jacuzzi, sauna and steam room. Not to mention a squash court, dance studio and fully equipped gym.

The second floor has a treatment area with six private treatment rooms, a manicure and pedicure treatment space, relaxation room, an Experience shower, sauna, an outdoor spa, Hammam steam room and even a hairdressers.

The leisure club hosts the hotel’s main conference facility, the Lakeland Suite, whilst with two additional, smaller meeting rooms are located off the reception area.

The location is spectacular as the facilities sit around one mile from the southern tip of Lake Windermere and Newby Bridge.
