Birregurra’s only pub will shut its doors on Sunday.
The 148-year-old Royal Mail Hotel is closing after lunch, with the venue for sale.
A post on the pub’s Facebook page earlier this week confirms Sunday’s lunch will be their last day of trading while thanking the local community, friends, staff and family.
“We would like to say thank you to all the sports clubs, community groups, arts groups, school and kindergarten groups, The Birre Fest community, local musicians and generally all the good folk of Birregurra for being a part of the hotel.”
“We would ask that you continue to support the pub in the future (we are unaware of what that is), but every town deserves a great pub,” the post reads.
The Herald Sun is reporting AFL boss Gillon McLachlan and his sports broadcaster brother Hamish may buy the property.
