Last Mile Brief 16/01/2023: delivery delay complaints in the UK mounting up

Today’s headline story: delivery delay complaints in the UK mounting up

DPD has become the latest UK parcel delivery company to come under scrutiny in recent weeks, with some customers in the Stoke area claiming they have still not received parcels that were intended for arrival before Christmas.

In a statement sent to Stoke on Trent Live, a DPD spokesperson reacted to the complaints as follows:

“We experienced some delays to deliveries in the Stoke-on-Trent area over the Christmas period. But we can confirm that the service standards at the depot have now returned to the levels both we and our customers expect.”

The statement from DPD comes after Evri apologised for its service troubles over the Christmas and New Year period. BBC television presenter Roger Johnson has been one of many persons to publicly state in the last week that their Christmas parcels had not yet arrived.

The likes of DPD and Evri have had extra volumes to cope with over Christmas due to Royal Mail strikes, something that may have caused both companies to struggle with their service levels.
