Last Royal Mail posting days for Christmas 2021

Christmas is just around the corner so there is not much time left to get those presents and cards in the post if you want them to arrive in time.

With just over a week to go, the Royal Mail is urging people to get their items in the post as soon as possible.

This will hopefully mean that they then reduce the risk of the presents being caught up in the Christmas rush.

Many people are asking when the last posting day for Christmas falls, but the last date for the festive post will depend on the exact method you use.

When is the last posting day for Christmas?

According to the Royal Mail, the last posting dates for Christmas are as follows:

  • Friday, December 17 – Royal Mail Bulk Economy

  • Saturday, December 18 – Royal Mail 2nd Class, 2nd Class Signed For, Royal Mail 48

  • Tuesday, December 21 – 1st Class, 1st Class Signed For, Royal Mail 24, Royal Mail Tracked 48

  • Wednesday, December 22 – Royal Mail Tracked 24

  • Thursday, December 23 – Special Delivery Guaranteed

However, Royal Mail points out that with the ongoing pandemic – which has put the postal service under extra strain – it is best to send items, especially gifts, as soon as possible.

International deliveries, in particular, should be posted early to avoid disappointment.

The Post Office, meanwhile, has warned customers that next Monday, December 20, is set to be the busiest date of the year, as the Christmas rush reaches its peak, reports BirminghamLive.

It expects its branches to be busiest on Monday as people will be descending on them to send off their last-minute presents and cards.

Post Office customers are urged to visit branches outside of the very busiest times – such as lunchtimes, especially – if at all possible.
