Leeds news Live: Halton Ring Road closed due to serious crash | Fire above takeaway closes road as firefighters respond

Serious crash causing road closures in Halton

The Ring Road in Halton (A6120) around Whitkirk Lane is closed in both directions at the Skyliner Roundabout due to a serious crash.

Road Closures are in place between Station Road, Crossgates and the Skyliner, Selby Road junction following a serious Road Traffic Collision.

Emergency services are on scene at this time and traffic is being diverted.

It is unknown at this time how long closures will be in place and police will update motorists when the road is re-opened.

First Bus has said its service X26 will operate the X27 route in both directions until further notice.

The YEP has asked West Yorkshire Police for more information about the incident.

Crash on M1 southbound, Leeds causing motorway closure

M1 southbound J47 (Garforth) to J46 (Colton) has been closed this morning due to a crash.

The M1 northbound was also stopped.

West Yorkshire Police Roads Policing Unit, Traffic Officers and Maintenance Crews went to the scene.

The traffic at J47 southbound has now been cleared but a lane three closure remains in both directions between J46 and J47 whilst an inspection on the central barrier is carried out.

The YEP has asked West Yorkshire Police for more information about the incident.

West Yorkshire Fire Service full statement

“We were called at 9.26 hours today, Tuesday 12 January, to reports of a fire in a property on Whitehall Road, Wortley.

“Four fire engines attended, two from Leeds Fire Station and one each from Hunslet and Morley fire stations, along with an aerial ladder appliance from Leeds.

“One fire engine from Leeds Fire Station remains on the scene damping down.

“All persons have been accounted for.”

Four fire engines – two from Morley, one from Leeds and one from Hunslet attended the scene.

The Station Manager, Fire Investigation Officer and Watch Commander James Gaunt said: “One person has self rescued, he was conscious and breathing there was no one else in the shops, it was a significant fire. 

“It started in the top left of the building”

Throstle Road, Middleton, still closed after Sunday night’s shooting

Throstle Road in Middleton is still closed after a shooting on Sunday night.

First Bus has issued an update for its 75 service:

To Leeds: via Throstle Rd, Acre Rd, Middleton Park Ave

To Middleton: Middleton Park Ave via Acre Rd, then left on to Thorpe Rd

This is until further notice.
