Lego’s new RMS Titanic set with more than 9,000 pieces can be pre-ordered

Lego has revealed the largest Lego set ever created – the legendary RMS Titanic.

The set is an “authentic replica” of the Royal Mail Steamer Titanic, on her maiden voyage, sank on April 15, 1912.

Titanic was one of three large ships built by the White Star Line. Construction of the lavish ship with 10 decks and 840 staterooms took two years from 1909 to 1911. It was constructed at a shipyard in Belfast, Ireland.

At the time, it was the largest passenger steamship ever built. The ship had a capacity of 3,300 people. Aboard for the maiden voyage were celebrities and dignitaries. There were 2,240 people sailing. After striking an iceberg, the ship sank. More than 1,500 people died.

The Lego Group said, “For the first time, fans can now recreate the luxury liner in detailed Lego brick form, 110 years since it was launched in Belfast in 1911.”

The Titanic model set includes 9,090 pieces “making it a truly immersive building challenge for LEGO fans and budding historians alike.”

“As well as its sheer size, the Titanic was known for its unrivaled grandeur, which has been faithfully captured in the set. Beneath the unmistakable exterior of the LEGO Titanic, there are several interior rooms to explore including the First-Class grand staircase which spans six decks and the Jacobean-style dining saloon which was located on the ship’s D deck.

The Titanic was also renowned for its unparalleled speed, outclassing other ships of the era, and in the lower decks, fans will find a replica of the state-of-the-art engine room.”

Mike Psiaki, design master at the LEGO Group said, “At the time of its launch the Titanic was the pinnacle of nautical engineering, the largest moving vehicle ever created. It has been an incredible journey to recreate this iconic vessel from LEGO bricks, using blueprints created over a century ago.

“Designing the LEGO Titanic with such a focus on immense detail and scale, but also accuracy, has allowed us to create one of the most challenging building experiences to date. We know brick builders and ship enthusiasts of all ages will love building the set and displaying it in their homes.”

The Titanic will be available for pre-order on Nov. 1. It will cost $629.99. It will go on sale Nov. 8.

The set comes with a plaque and display stand. The model is 17.5 inches in height, 6 inches in width and 53 inches in length.

Lego’s 9,090-piece RMS Titanic model can be pre-ordered on Nov. 1, 2021. It will cost $629.99.
