A Leicester mum who found the perfect outline of an angel on an aubergine has revealed she’s kept it in the freezer for the past 14 years. Maya Rana said the “miracle” discovery is so good that she can’t bear to throw it away.
The 54-year-old bus driver cut open the fruit in 2008 when she was making a curry. She then spotted the perfect outline of an angel on the fruit – a look that ran throughout the entire aubergine itself, reports WalesOnline.
And it was so clear Maya felt the need to keep part of it forever more. She still finds the angel’s appearance strange to this day.

“I was very surprised to see the angel in the aubergine, you don’t expect to see that. I couldn’t believe it, you could properly see the outline of the angel and everything. I kept the biggest slice, which was the middle one and I’ve still got it after all these years in a little tub in the freezer. I can’t bear to throw it away,” she revealed.
The angelic aubergine’s appearance is carved by the fruit’s seeds and sees a complete angel with wings. It is something Maya believes is a sign that the angels are “with her”.

“I just think it’s like a miracle, especially experiencing so many [other] things as well around that time. To me that’s a sign that angels are with me,” she continued.
“They’re not going to come unless you truly believe in them then they start making themselves available or seen to you – you can see them or hear them.”
Maya’s belief in angels came at a time when she was going through a divorce and started the Japanese form of energy healing known as reiki. The mum-of-two claims that soon after starting her course, she began seeing and hearing angels everywhere.
She said: “Things started happening after I did the reiki course and started looking into angels more. The more I started thinking about them and looking into it, I started seeing things, like the aubergine.
“I started believing in it so much. One night I opened my eyes and there was a big beautiful glow and I think it was an angel in my room. I was literally just looking at it and it was kind of smiling. I got so scared I screamed out loud and it just vanished.”
However, despite her fruity encounter with the angels, Maya has not been as lucky to see more angels in the years since. She said: “I haven’t seen any more angels in vegetables since. It happened one time.”
